The second phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh on April 26 holds high stakes for several prominent faces, including actress Hema Malini, actor Arun Govil, and former BSP leader Danish Ali.
In the eight constituencies going to polls β Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, and Mathura β unemployment has emerged as a major concern, with youth expressing anger over recruitment exam paper leaks and lack of job opportunities.
The BJP had won seven of these seats in 2019, with Amroha being the lone exception, where Danish Ali had emerged victorious on a joint BSP-SP-RLD ticket.
BJP MP Hema Malini and Baba Ramdev took part in the Mauni Amavasya dip at Maha Kumbh, expressing gratitude and prayers after a tragic stampede. Authorities had halted rituals temporarily as they offered condolences and emphasized the significance of the holy bath for spiritual welfare.
